Since I have received a new appointment from the bishop and will be leaving St Ignatius' in late August 2023, I salute you all for the last time in Christ Jesus. It has been a privilege and honour to serve you as parish priest for the last ten years. I didn't know the Wakefield area before coming to St Ignatius' parish, but these ten years have imprinted you on my heart. Give a warm welcome to Fr Sean, the new parish priest, when he arrives, and stay open to the Holy Spirit, so that the mission of the Church here can develop and expand.
If you are new to the area or parish then you are very welcome to our community and to the many events that we host here at St Ignatius'. Our hope is that by seeking to live the life of Jesus Christ more openly and more joyfully, we will attract others to Him.'
Founded in 1877 and set in the rolling countryside to the west of Wakefield in Yorkshire, St Ignatius’ Church is the home of the Catholic community in Ossett, Horbury and the Calder villages. We seek to grow in the life of Jesus Christ and to draw others into his life.
‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.’ John 14:6
